The whole river is beautiful and picturesque, with many easy sections but there are several sections where it becomes more challenging. It is a spate river and as a result rises and falls very quickly, so giving more fishing time than most rivers of this type.

There are five stretches, with parking, making up the whole. These are Hillmoor Farm, Bank Farm , North Rode Farm,  Ladderstile Farm and our newest beat at Swettenham.

Hillmoor and Bank are regularly stocked with brown trout up to 14″ in length. This last season we introduced 400 brown trout in two stockings.

The North Rode and Ladderstile beats are more wild than Hillmoor and Bank. These beats are not stocked and provide sporting and challenging fishing for wild brown trout.

The Swettenham beat contains grayling and brown trout. This beat may be fished for grayling during the trout closed season.

Trout season is from March 15th to September 30th inclusive.

Grayling  season is from 16th June to 14th March inclusive
